Program for adolescent girls

Girls, particularly as they reach adolescence, can be faced with many difficult situations. They are at particular risk of being forced into sex work or early marriage. They will often drop out of school, be com pelled to look after younger siblings and the household or take up menial paid work to assist the family.

"Girls are encouraged to discuss their lives on a trusting, non-judgemental and open forum "

Many of the girls Kalki meets lack the emotional and practical support of mothers and fathers. Without the guidance and support of elders these young woman are left upset, confused and are liable to make regrettable decisions.

Kalki’s program for adolescent girls focuses on creating a trusting, stable environment in which these young woman can express themselves and gain self-confidence. Through organised workshops and activities girls aged from 12 and above are encouraged to discuss their lives on a trusting, non-judgemental and open forum and work together to overcome their problems. Through this program the girls gain in their self-believe and are given the strength to take control of their lives.
